Hello, I am looking at buying a samurai that has some work done to it. It has a rebuilt transfer case but the seller didn't do it so he is unsure if it has lower gears installed. Is there a way I can check??

I think if it were me I would chock the fronts, lift one rear (assuming open diffs) and see if you can mark the intermediate drive shaft going into the Xfer case, in LO range and trans in neutral roll the rear driveline one full turn and count how many times the intermediate shaft turns.

I cant recall what stock is but I think the popular aftermarket gears are around 4.3:1 and 6.4:1, it wont be exact but should give you some idea if gears have been done.
