Assuming this is a standard scissors jack, try turning the knob in the direction to lower the jack - most manufacturers turn the jack up so it does not rattle.

X2. You will also benefit from reading the owner's manual. Not only will it tell you how to remove the jack, but also how to operate other features of your car. Pay special attention to the service schedule. If you follow it you will enjoy your car more, less failures and repairs.
