Everywhere you look for aftermarket carbs for the zuk, you see the redline/webber carbs. I know you can put other carbs on, but the webber is pretty much the standard aftermarket that all the non specialized places carry. On the description it will almost always say, "not for sale in california" or "not for on-road use." I was searching for stock rebuilt carbs for my samurai since mine is so old and I don't have the time to tear it down and rebuild it myself. I need to use a stock carb since it has to be smog legal in california. On my searches for a good price on a rebuilt, I noticed a few places listing the Holly carbs as universal carbs and as compatible with the samurai. I also noticed that it said 50 state smog legal. I was pretty sure that it was miscategorized since The only Holly that I know of for the samurai is the screaming eagle and it's not the one listed, and it's not smog legal. It did get me thinking though, does anyone have a carburetor that is CARB certified for the samurai other than the stock unit?

Personally, I have been looking for a side-draft carb, Mikuni, Dellorto, Solex, etc. to adapt to my Zuk. I see all of the My-Sides, etc. but I'd like a single, two-barrel side-draft or a dual, single-barrel configuration.

I had dual mikunis and they were great. Not smog legal though, so I had to swap them out every 2 years for inspection. They're hard on the engine too. Probably a single throttle body 2 barrel would be easier on it than my 4 barrel setup. The screaming eagle is a 1 barrel and its a single throttle body, and I think Myron was building a myside 3 for a dual screaming eagle setup. Gecko Cycles was using 4 single TB carbs from suzuki GSXR's. A lot easier to get parts for GSXR's and Screaming eagles than the mikuni and delorto's (no longer in production)
