Someone please help. I need to change my right side brake light, and I can't get the tail light cover off. The owners manuel says 2 screws. I removed them, and NOW what? What is the trick? I chipped the darn thing trying to pry it.
Thanks fopr any help

After removing the the two bolts, you will have to use some force to slide the whole assembly to the back as there are clips holding the rear lamp assembly. DON'T try to pry the lens from the whole assembly as the whole thing is weather shilelded and the bulbs can only be accessed from the back....after taking the whole assembly out.

You might need to have someone assist you to hold the tailgate at a half-open position so you can manouver the assembly out.

Ciao!
Hi there. THANKS SO MUCH for replying. I hope I am not going to be a pain, but can you give me alittle more detail. Will the whole assembly slide inward? out? THANKS
you got to yank it towards the rear of the car. just when you think its about to break it will come out
Hi tlsbasom,

Just get hold of the whole assembly with both your hands...at its side and pull it towrds the rear as described by NC State Alumnus.

Putting it back will be a bit tricky, trying to ensure all the clips are fitted properly and also to make sure the lamp assembly properly sits in its original position with the bottom moulding in between the carbody and the bumper.

Let me know if you need further guidance..... :)

Hi!

Do you have some pictures? I try with my 08 GV but it too hard to pull.
I am worry about braking the brake tail housing.

Thanks!
THANK YOU VERY MUCH. We finally got it. Wow you were right just when you think you will break it . It comes loose. THANKS AGAIN

Would you believe now I have a headlight out. I hope it is much easier:)

Well....SURPRISE!!! The Head-Lamp bulbs are held in place by a thin wire spring clip that is hard to figure which way too move it to release, and you cant see what you are doing, as your hand will be in the way, and this thin wire clip clip's onto a VERY easy too break tab. Patience pays off big time here...but if you do break the tab, the rubber boot seem's able to hold the bulb in place. (mine has been that way about two years now)
Also...read the re-placement bulb package before you buy it...The more expensive ones dont last very long, and the cheaper ones have about 4 times the life expectancy but are not as bright. Personal choice.
OK, Now that the tail light is fixed. I had said now I have a headlight out. I got the bulb only to find out that the plug is alittle melted and the new bulb did not work. PLEASE HELP

Thats a 2nd generation tail light, not a 3rd generation but similar removal steps, except the 3 gen ones are a pain yo get out of the clips on the outer body panels
