I have a 2008 SX4 Crossover and so far it has been my favorite car I have owned ( I bought it new). However little things are starting to fall apart. Yesterday my gear shift knob (manual) came off in my hands. The plastic around the ball just cracked and broke off. And it has a cheap plastic mount with a slot in it. Don't see how to make an aftermarket knob work. Just curious to see if anyone has run into this problem. Thank you.

I replaced the shift knob on my daughters 5-speed 2007 SX4. The shaft is threaded. We installed a metal shift knob, which came with a few thread adapters. I also purchased the OEM knob and boot, shipped out of China, in case we decide to revert back to the original. I got them on eBay for a good price, just had to wait a couple weeks.

Hi John. I saw a video on youtube but it just showed cutting off the old knob and installing the new one. It didn't get down to the threaded shaft, just the plastic part that the knob set on. I just trimmed off all the plastic and super glued the knob back on.. Thanks for the info.
