Hi,
New to the forum.
Had a stop engine light that came in when cold but after running the engine for a few minutes switch off and switch on no stop light.
Bought a code reader for £25 but it showed no fault recorded.
Eventually called the RAC he put his diagnostic on loads of codes which he said most were irrelevant.
However one code refered to ECU and one an open circuit.
Experience told him although the battery was showing a good charge it was duff.
Put the jump leads on to give battery a help no Stop light.
Put new battery on no more engine stop light.
Moral of this story don't buy crap of eBay and get someone out with the right equipment and knoweledge and save your self stress.
Car now running sweet.

for the 1.9 F9Q engines, you do need a semi decent code reader. Some of the ELM based ones work well, some don't.

Glad you found it was low cranking volts cold that was the issue and resolved it.
