Ok,I did the search,2x and could not find this topic so im bringing it up.I even searched google and got some info witch is why im posting on here. But nothing from this site came up so here I go.

I read the bolt pattern on a 3 cylinder geo is the same as the tranny in my 88 samaria, even the fly wheel will bolt to the engine.

Has any body done this swap,if so please let me know how it went and how you like the results.I have a line on a geo metro that is cheaper then rebiulding the wore out 1.3l ive got now. From what I was reading the 3 cylinder has the same horsepower rating as a fuel injected samy 4 banger, witch is what im looking for any way, was a way to fuel inject my ride without spending a fortune on swaping in a 1.6l.Everybody that has a 1.6l in trackers or what every they call it are not letting them go cheap. But a beat to hell geo that still runs good is not hard to find yet,so if its been done or you seen it done and know a little something about how the owner liked it,please let me know.

The next step is to put a 4.3l v6 in because I can pick one of them up cheaper then buying a 1.6l, derate the thing and go easy on the skinny peadal.Ive got a tranny I can bolt on and modify to fit the stock transfer, all i would have to do is install a heavyer spring up front.Im fighting this option because I dont want the weight penalty, but having the torqe and fuel injection would make for an easy ride through the woods and over the hills.

It would be nice if I could find an iron duke to drop in,like i said ive got a tranny, but even those are hard to come by,or im just not in the right place at the right time if you know what I mean....

Go over to the TeamSwift forum and take a look around - those guys have swapped the G10s with the G13s and pretty much know them inside out.

Yes - the bolt patterns are the same, the flywheel will probably interchange, but they are different, as for the G10 having the same power as the G13 no way, not unless you're getting you have a G10T from a turbo Sprint or Firefly turbo.

No I haven't swapped it and I wouldn't try, it's a step backward in my opinion, and as for the V6 swap, you've already listed the reasons I wouldn't go that route.

There's a reason the 1.6 swap comes so highly recommended, it's easy and it works, and I'm willing to bet it'll work out cheaper in the long run than the V6.

If you want a fuel injected 1.3 then you could consider the Metro 1.3 engine - which is the same block as the Samurai. You will have problems with the distributor which sticks out the back of the head on the Metro but you may be able to use the Samuari head if its not wrecked.

Well I figured there would be 1 person that would have done it and could share the results.Well it was worth a shot any way.The 1.3l is scarce around my house like a 1.6l under 2g.And I know,,,thats what every body does because it fits with out any mods.

I have a buddy of mine running a 1.6l tracker fuel injected 88 samy sitting on 36 military tires. It runs great,he has stock drive train lincoln locked front and back with stock gears. He has to run low range all the time because of the 3.73 and puts a clutch in every 6 months. He has broke drive shafts, transfer case,no axles yet but has a really bad angle on his shafts and it eats pinion bearings. He has broke the timing belt and has other issues like steering the beast around.Ill keep looking around for a 1.6l but if I cant find one with out spending enough to buy another samy ill start looking into doing a v6 swap.I seen a guy with a MGB running a 3.1l fwd motor in his little car,and found a guy with one in his samy on another site that was lighter then a 4.3 and had less power but 2x what the 1.6l puts out,I could probably swap it in for less coin then a 1.6 with all the adaptor and so forth I would need.Just have to keep control of the skinny pedal. And if i spent a little more on the swap then using a 1.6l,it wouldnt bother me to much since I would have more motor for future upgrades. The only problem is one that cant be solved by normal fabrication, right.Maybe ill come across a sweet heart of a deal on a 1.6l that runs with out spending a fortune on it.

Well thanks Guys for your input I appreciate it,be safe.

Have you considered a 2.0 from a 99+ Vitara or Tracker? That has more power than the 1.6, has a similar bellhousing bolt pattern and is not too heavy.

Yah the 99+ vitara or even the tracker around here were i live will set me back 3g or more.I was even looking around for a chevy s-10 or gmc with a 4 cylinder to drop in there and couldn't even find that. But i found like 6 4.3l complete engines running in vehicles for $350.A 95 tracker 2 wd not running with over 100g is going for over $1500,or I wind up driving half a day to pick up a better deal, but spend the difference in gas. Ebay all day long wants over 2g for just an engine and then ill have to go carb or spend more on wiring and computer. That's what frustrates me the most is spending the $ on the 4 bangers when v6 are so cheap to pick up.I want to keep it light but dam.I found a couple sites that wanted over 2g for a rebuilt 1.3l that would pump out 110hp. But how long would it last? This is my go to the store or maybe drive it to the parts store run an errand then got play on the weekend toy.I don't want to drop a couple house payment on it just for all that. Thanks any way.

Well I found an 89 s-15 pickup truck with a 2.5l 4 banger and a 5 speed.I know the engine is heavy but it a distributor less ignition,TBI and it puts out good low end torque plus the hp is the same as a 1.6l 16v mpi. There tough engines, was wandering if any body has put one in a sammy or is every body still sticking with 1.6l or expensive newer engines to swap in.

There is a local guy here that is running a geo metro 1.0 in his LJ (a predecessor to the samurai). He has ran it for several years and loves it.
The 1.0 is rated at 55hp vs. the samurais 65ishHP.
The samurai tranny does bolt up to the 1.0 engine.
The problem is that the metro distributor does stick straight out the back of the head, so firewall clearance may be an issue.

The LJs ran even smaller engines than the Samurai, so a 1.0 from a Metro would actually be an upgrade - the first Suzuki I drove was an LJ50, with a tiny little 500cc 3 cylinder 2 stroke.

True. But he is running a samurai tranny, samurai tcase and LJ tcase, samurai axles, 33" tires, YJ springs, etc. So it weighs in at 2140lbs....right at stock samurai weight.
