Which is a better diff gear ratio for a strictly off road car with a locker installed a 3.8 gear ratio or a 5.1 gear ratio

We proly all have no idea how TALL the proposed tractor tires are.

Are you going to rock climb or speed through mud bogs? :huh:

Most likely though, the higher (numeric) ratio is the best choice, unless it spends most of the time as a daily driver.

Im thinking hes going to be in mud with those kinda tires, they wouldnt last a day rock crawling. With that side i would only be guessing at ratios. maybe a 5.38 in the diffs and stock or 4 to 1 t-case gears.

tire height is 35's and yup its for mudding i have the 5.1 ratio diffs but not sure how to go about checking my T case ratio.....but i had put a 410 jimny T case and the gearing was really good ..........once i climbed a hill i usually have to gear down on in fifth gear with the 410 T case ( these are the Tcases with the hand brake attached as a brake drum to the T case ) ....so any input u guys have would help
