From email received :

Hi,
I have read your info about hacked start screen, it's a pain, but I may leave it for the moment, have downloaded hack just in case!
Can I update with these maps?
2016 Australia NZ Maps FOR Garmin Nuvi Streetpilot Zumo Kenwood GPS Update | eBay
My car is a 2014 swift, with 3.90 loaded into it via garmin SD card update .
Thanks in advance
Warren

My answer :

From Ebay at this price, i dont think they are genuine Garmin products ...

I think it contain unlocked maps Ie : hacked maps.
Usually you have to get your device ID, and Install the gramin software+maps, create your map, unlock it and send it to your device.

The problem is Garmin Softwares doesn't recognize correctly this radio, and it will possibly brick your device.

Maybe use the Garmin/suzuki web site to purchase map etc ...

The good and safest way is: to put the created *.img map into your sdcard in Garmin folder, your radio will add it in the maps sections, it must be unlocked before copying it in the sd card.

OR any unlocked *.img maps floating on the web ...

Here's the hacked version without the warning message

Mega File Upload - gupdate.gcd

IF you are on version 3.9 it will not upgrade to this version, you will have to force an update manually.

Hold the voice button and the top left screen together, keep holding, the radio screen wil flick a few times, when the radio display loading software (top center screen), release all, the radio should update itself for atleast 5-10 minutes, DO NOT INTERRUPT this process, once finished the radio will reboot automatically.
Hack installed. Brilliant! Thanks for sharing.

just upgraded to the 2017.20 on the sd card, with the 3.9 firmware hacked ( no warning at startup)

Still working very well

On Ali Express for a few dollars, there is an : "NISSA Qashqai New Teana,New X-TRAIL USB Audio Cable Adapter" blue model connector.

With a small mod on it, for the "keying housing", it will fit perfectly the Garmin unit, cut the female usb connector and rewire a new one, and bam an usb dongle interface.

Did Not pay 120$ for the cable and the usb dash plug ??? from original suzuki parts.

Hello everybody,

I just disassemble the original radio of my Suzuki S-Cross radio. This model is the new Infotainment system but the connectors are identical to the Garmin model discussed on this subject. I'll install a Blaupunkt Cape Town and i already thank you for all the informations i've collected here. Now i am facing a problem connecting with the reversing camera.

The Blaupunkt has an RCA jack and a single cable named "reverse". I think i need to connect it to the cable that is present on the white connector and i'll weld an RCA jack from the ground and the signal of the green connector. But, what should i do with the "output + 6V" and with the other ground cables? Are the first three cables enough or have i to create a 6V output for the reversing camera?

Thanks for all for all the help you can do for me :)

NB : sorry for my poor english

Hello where are you from ??? do you have somewhere near you a scrap yard with s-cross or grand vitara premium 2013 or kisaghi 2013 cars ??? I'm searching for the whites plugs, the gray plug ???

Well seeing the Blaupunkt wiring document

You'll have to fit something, the reverse signal will be a 12volts ouput from the transmission, no problem there, connect it to the radio ... unless your radio see reverse when the pin is grounded, you'll have to invert the signal with a small relay circuit ???

For the video signal in the green plug, you'll have to do a modification, just put or add in parallel, an rca video cable, connect it to the video signal and the ground. Dont cut the plug, just splice and solder it in parallel.

For supplying the camera, since your car camera works at 6volts, you'll have to add a regulator circuit to drop the 12volts into 6volts, Unless you add an new 12vdc camera instead ???

EX: take the 12volts from the reverse lights signals (at the rear of the car) add the regulator circuit and connect it to the camera ...

The camera will go on only when you reverse with the reverse transmission pin going to the radio too, for the regulator circuits search for ua7806 / lm7806 regulator circuits or maybe Ebay with adjustable regulators pcb or circuits .... if you have some electronics knowledge BE CAREFUL

OH your radio is an android based one, the gps system is based on IGO software, if i recall correctly. You'll have less frequent updates than Garmin, you should have taken in consideration KENWOOD DNX series, they have Garmin softwares...

good luck

Hello coromonadalix,

I live in France (near Paris) and find a suzuki in a scrap yard is almost as difficult as winning the lottery. This brand is very rare but I'll still watch near me if this can be useful to you. I know 2 ou 3 scrap yards near me and i will show them some pictures of the connectors.

Thanks for the reference of the regulators. I also posted on a Suzuki's forum because i know that some Garmin has been replaced by Clarion NX404e that do not have this 6 volts outlet. How did the garages process for installation? Normally they are not specialists in electronics and i guess they went to the simplest way.

My Cape Town is a world version without GPS software. I managed to install Google Play store and, later, my TomTom software that performs well with quarterly updates. Normally it is not compatible but I can confirm that it works very well
and much more efficiently than the original model.

You would have to read the wiring end connections with a meter to determine which wires are used and to where. :)

read the earlier threads, all the pinouts were given by me

the black is the ground
the white is the video signal

the violet color is a short between the fist and the last pin, ENABLE MODE

It will tell the Garmin unit that you have an camera input, BUT it will work only in conjunction with the input mode connector "the white one" to detect the reverse transmission mode ... and switch on the video.

TO install new maps on the radio, the safest method is this:

Create a "Garmin" folder on a sd card with 8 gigs or less in size, 16 gb may work.

Copy the gmapprom.img or the gmapsupp.img in this folder, power off the radio, put the sd card, power it up, and in the settings, under maps you will see the added maps.

You can create (and add the files in to them) the ASR, jvc, sid, g2s, gmap3d .... folders in the same "Garmin" folder, not sure the radio will use all of them ???

For the maps you can google them "unlocked torrents" ... or use the Suzuki Garmin website (free or $$$)

The map must be unlocked, to make it work.

I have the 2017.20 version with all theses "mentioned files and folders" and the unit is running fine.

This is an OEM garmin unit, Garmin wont be a good help and wont update the files, Suzuki will, thru their web site.

You can buy the garmin DVD, install it to your pc, build your maps, unlock them etc... but the problem is you have, to get an "hacked" Basecamp to install this compiled and unlocked map set into an SD-Card or file destination on your drive and aftewards put it in the SD-Card, The Garmin city navigator wont see the radio since it is an unsupported unit by Garmin, and the usb connector is a pain in the .... to make it work.

The Suzuki web site will use an auto generated garmin xml file, go in the settings, once an sd-card is added, find the update button and press it, it will copy this generated file into the card, go to the garmin suzuki web site, once registered, put the sd-card into your computer, you will be able to make it search the xml file, and the website will update the card contents.

Put the update file in a SD card into a Garmin folder

The radio should update itself upon file and folder detection, wait at least 10 - 20 minutes DO NOT POWER OFF the radio DO NOT START THE CAR, the radio should reboot itself.

I'll check if i can remove the warning message at startup ...

Thanks coromonadalix, Update worked fine and yes it does take about 15 minutes.
Of the top of your head do yo know what improvements if any were made?

And as soon as you have the one to remove the warning please post it.

Thanks

thanks for all the info provided so far but I have a simpler problem for the moment. After removing all the screws I cant get the unit out of the dash. It moves about 2 inches then no further. Does it have a very short cable and do I have to remove more of the dash? and is a pal camera suitable?
Thanks
Greg
