Hi lads wondering if anyway could help me identify the part I need to purchase to fit into the front differential breather hole of my 1990 Suzuki escudo/vitara (see photos). I haven’t had much luck searching for it online or can’t seem to find an OEM part, maybe someone has a photo of one. I don’t know if it’s called a plug or a bushing or a valve. But basically it needs to have a way to attached a breather hose onto. The hole is about 25-26mm metric or 1 inch imperial.

Assuming your Escudo would be similar to the Vitara/Sidekick, this might help:

Thanks bex, that did help. So it’s a “breather union” I’m looking for. Just googled the oem number there and could only find one site selling it. However there’s no photo included on the site and the price of shipping from Japan is like 5-6 times the cost of the actual part :/. I’ll buy it if I have to but I’d be open to a non oem part also, there must be similar “unions” in the diffs of other vehicles or something more universal that would fit?

its a super stupid part..... anyone with a lathe and a piece of nylon could make it for you in 5 in 10 minutes,

i have a front diff with a locker waiting to go into the car, let me know if you want me to take measruements fo the part.

its really a non critical one, doesnt hold any pressure, just lets the diff breath clean air through a tube....

you could even mcgiver it ...

I agree definitely a super stupid part! I don’t mind buying the stupid parts as long as they’re cheap and the shipping isn’t crazy. If you could take some measurements that would be greatly appreciated! Hard to do on the vehicle. If the shipping is low on the site you linked I may buy it. Are they just pressed into place? I only noticed the hole when I was fixing a thermostat problem and a load of coolant decided to leaked and find it’s way into the hole on the diff.😅

a bit hard to get the most critical dimension of the diameter that fits to the diff body because the part is a bit recessed into the casting,

in my case, there is also a sheet metal tube bracket/clamp that makes it harder to measure.

but looks like the big diameter is ⌀ 25mm, would make also sense that suzuki uses a rational number, but I cant confirm it

the nipple is ⌀8 x 15mm long

you coud try make it 25 and it does not fit, go down in tiny step until it does...

good luck!
