So I decided to just install a new samurai alternator and not do the gm. But fixed my hard start issue and the issue of getting hot with lights on. Seems the electrical system was just weak and causing all sorts of problems.

Now to find out what the grinding noise is coming from the drivetrain. It's gotten worse and not sure if its a throw out bearing or if tranny and transfer need rebuilds. When coasting with it in neutral you can hear a low growl coming from the trans transfer area. Any ideas. Also when transfer is in neutral and trans in gear sounds like marbles in transfer. Worst in fourth and fifth.

I'm sure you have already checked this out but go under and make sure all the Ujoints are good, mounts for engine/trans/Xcase are all in tact. Fluid levels correct in all the gearboxes. My Xfer case made a lot of noise when I brought it home after purchase and I found the mounts were tattered from abuse.
