after buying gas (petrol) for my suzuki carry with f10a engine i drove home about 4 kilometre ok. 1/2 hour later engine would not start, will only start with ignition timing very far advanced, maybe 35 degree`s and will not idle. runs at about 2,000 rpm and above ok. have checked cam belt timing all ok. any ideas?

Remove the upstream O2, if runs with open bung, exhaust plugged (low tech)
As above with the addition of low pressure gauge in O2 bung, >2psi @3000rpm, exhaust plugged (high tech)

How did you measure the fuel pressure?
Pressure at idle?
pressure at 2000rpm?
What are the fuel trims at idle and 2000 rpm?

ok thanks for answers but engine is carburetor feed, not efi
and this happened just after a fresh tank of gas? sounds like you have copped a load of dirty or wet fuel.

or timings jumped a tooth or 2 as you started it.

managed to get local mechanic to call by this morning, adjsted timing and checked carburetor sddenly idling good, said it was the throttle butterfly not reassembled correctly (my fault). also found cracked coil top was tracking out to ground, repaired that with epoxy. engine now running better than ever.
thanks to everybody for their ideas and input.
