Hi.Was thinking about replacing engine in my gv 2.0td its the Peugeot rhz engine.I already have a good replacement from a Peugeot 406. Do I need to change out the ecm or does it just drop in?

I can’t imagine it being usable but I don’t really know. Usually an ecm is paired pretty closely with the engine it controls.

We don’t have Peugeot here, maybe I don’t know something about them that makes this a reasonable question.

What you're missing is that his car is the 2.0 turbo diesel, specifically with the Peugeot RHZ engine, which I believe is the same engine used in the 406 - so his question is a very reasonable one - it's essentially the same as someone asking if the J20a from an Aerio or SX4 can be used to replace the J20a in a Vitara.

Unfortunately, I'm not sufficiently familiar with the diesels to answer.

it should be a DW10ATED engine, so it should swap, but whether Suzuki used different sensors is anybodys guess. Block and head should swap, peripherals like sensors and manifolds may need to be exchanged off the old motor.
