Can anyone tell me how to reset the engine check light on a 51 plate jimny.

Hello. I have absolutely no idea what a plate51 is, but I can tell you that the sj/samurai series used a small 2-position slide switch located near the steering column under the dash.

It is possible the same switch scheme is being used in later models.

A 51 plate (2001 registration) Suzuki Jimney probably has an OBD2 socket somewhere near the steering wheel. It looks a bit like a TV scart socket with approx 16 connections.
You will need a fault code reader - it will give you some idea of the cause of the check engine light coming on.
Once the fault has been fixed the fault code reader can be used to switch off the engine light.

Jimny is OBD2 so you either need to reset the CEL/MIL using a scan tool or fix the problem and it'll go out by itself after a while.
