Pulled my EGR to clean..and it looks like xtremezuks beat me to it as it was fairly clean.

But the diaphragm wont move...i soaked in Berrymans dip, to no avail. Reattached to the car to move from the shop..and now its squeaking. Is the diaphragm merely trying to move?

Are there any tricks to freeing it up?

Try soaking it overnight in your solution, or carb cleaner, being careful not to contaminate the diaphragm material itself. The diaphragm must move.
Worse comes to worse, if you can't get it to move, if there is a junkyard near you, pull one and clean it.
