im looking for some ideas on the best way to seal my tranny and transfer water tight im getting tired of gear oil swaps and burnt out clutches from mud. Any input would be very helpful. I thought about just rtv but i dont know

You can vent both cases remotely by adding hoses that can run up into dry areas under the hood. You cound even throw a valve cover filter (bling isle in most parts stores) on the end of the hoses. The transfer case is easy enough to add the hose to, but the tranny will need a 90 degree connection because of how close it sits to the tranny tunnel. You probably want to considder doing the same to the diffs.

As far as the clutch/mud problem, are you running the splash plate at the bottom of the tranny? It will cover the bottom of the bell curve and keep most of the mud out.

i have the axels vented w/hose but i didnt really know where the water was getting in on the cases or where top vent them from. Also i do have the inspection plate on 4 tyhe clutch but it still fills up if i go in deep mud but, i think that rtv might be the fix 4 that

The vents are on top and look just like the ones on the diffs. You will have to drop the cases to get to them.

One thng to also look for is the service cover on the drivers side up top of the bell (tranny) near the exhaust manifold. Sometimes the older zooks lose the rubber cover and stuff can get down into there. That spot is where you can time the motor based on the marks on the top of the flywheel.

The only problem I see with RTV is - What happens of something does get in and can't get out? Or if you have a rear main seal or front tranny seal start to go and the oil starts to fill up down there. More slippery problem...

yah makes sence i think i'll just put a little rtv on the inspection plate to help w/ the clutch and thanks for the input it helped a lot
