I was looking at them to replace my leaking hard top on my tracker, cant find much information or pictures of them except the ones on their website, so has anyone seen these?
I had one on my Samurai. It was well made and worth price, not sure about the Tracker models. But then again, anything beat that flapping canvas top it replaced.
I'm not having a problem with a rally top, i have a pro top on it right now thats in ruff shape, few cracks where the rear struts are which i tried fixing with plastic epoxy glue but it just ended up cracking again and the rear windows/vents are leaking, we had a big rain storm yesterday and i put down some rags and they were soaked this morning. Wish i could fix this one but i think it might be a litle to late. Thats why i am asking how good are the rally tops.
What needed to be done to the tailgate area if you dont mind me asking, my tracker only has 60 000km on it so thats why i dont mind spending a litle money on a hard top, when i purchased it it came with a rag top so i put that pro top on it only to find out that its in really bad shape and leaking like a faucet, only thing I'm worried about with the rally top is shipping as i am located in canada hehe
In the tailgate area mine actually has about an 1/8 inch gap to the outside. That is my one complaint about the top. But I did pull it off a 96+ and mine being a 94 has a slightly different tailgate. I remember it sealed up good on the truck I pulled it off of. I still trying to figure out a solution to seal it up and still be able to open/close it.
Now on the quality question. It is much nicer the the first hard top I found in the junkyard from another company. Very heavy and insulated.
Most people treated them as throw away cars. And for the most part they were built to match that mentality. Unfortunately people don't take care of anything anymore.
Gunner, that top is the same one I have. When I first got mine, it leaked and had a lot of wind noise too. What I did was purchase some rolls of after-market Universal fit door seal from the local parts store.
The kind I am talking about has the metal rubber coated U shape that pushes onto the edge of the part you are trying to seal, then attached to that U shape is a tube of rubber. That tube gets compressed against the body of the car, thus making a pretty darn good seal.
It took me a few tries to get everything cut to fit but I really like the result. In addition to the sealing, for me it added a more custom fit look to the top, because now there is no sharp edge of the top sitting next to the body of the car, its hidden by the seal strip.
Litle to late hehe, i placed an order for a black rally top, figured i really like the thing and i'll just sell the old top for a few hundred bucks.
