Fellas,
My Sami came with full time day time running lights.
It is a pain in the eyeballs to the fella in front of me on the trail.
How can I disable them at least when I want to.
Some vehicles have a disable when the e brake is pulled up one notch.
This would work for me.
Or completely disable and run without.
Is there a module that controls this feature ?
If so where is it located ?
Can I find the e brake component in a donor car ? Which one ?
Thanx

wow, that's a feature I wish that I had. I spend money to install DRL's in my cars that don't come with them because it's so much safer and people notice you more. Never had an issue with them blinding or annoying anyone since they usually use the running lights. If yours uses the headlights, maybe you can just run the output to the running lights instead of the headlights?

day time running lights

Baraticus,
Thanx for the quick response.
What are u refering to 'Output' ?
I cannot locate the relay or connection or whatever controls this feature.
A mechanic looked it up on his computer and could not locate it.
The only suggestion I have had so far is to disconnect the wire plug from the back of each headlight...let it dangle and reattach once at trail head.
That seems excessive.
If I could locate the place I could install a switch in the cabin to enable/disable on the trail...
It is also disconcerting if I am working on any device that needs the keys on as the lights are on too and run the battery down quickly that way.
If it came to it and the legalities are that it needs day time running lights...I would add a couple LEDs that notify people I am there but do NOT run the battery down.
Any ideas ?

Only the headlights come on.
They take a second after the key is in start mode but often are on before the engine in running.
If I turn the key on but do not hit the starter they come on in seconds.
They do not seem as bright as the headlights are when the on switch is activated.

There are 3 wires into the headlamp,
white with blue marker
red with green marker
green/red with white marker
I have followed them as far as the loom.
Cannot find any resister or other type 'box' that could be the actuater.
Could it be one of the things controlled by the ubiquitus ECU ?
A puzzle.
