hi danvhp welcome to the forum! the "HOLD" is simply to indicate that the hold feature on the transmission is active. theres a button that says hold down by the shifter. the little steering wheel will come on to indicate there is a problem with the power assist steering feature. the faster you go in the car the less the power steering is used. this is to give the driver a better feeling of the road, a sportier drive. when you drive slow the power steering becomes more active to assist with things like parking. if theres a problem with the system the i believe regular power steering becomes turned on all the time. anything else just ask!
Thanks for the information. Now the bigger questions. Do you know what the "hold" feature does? Also, is there a typical part or sensor that causes the Speed Sensitive Power Steering malfunction light to come on?
hi. the hold feature is used to make the transmission stay in gear longer before shifting. for comfort reasons the car has a long slow shift. this can cause the car to hunt for the right gear in situations like going up a long steep hill. it will constantly shift up and down to get into the right gear. hold makes the car stay in gear longer so it wont gear hunt. the only thing ive heard of that will cause the ssps light is the ssps control itself. i think its under the dash. if it stops working what you end up with is full time power steering. sometimes the light will come on then shut off the next time the car is started. if you want to know where its located heres a link to the online service manual Daewoo Service Manual
