Hello guys, I have some questions and also need few advises. I recently bought a Suzuki Samurai with a diesel engine. I managed to swap it with a G13B engine which came off from a Jimny (1.3 16v EFI). The new engine itself fit into car with no problem. But I'm having few problems on my dashboard. The engine which we took from was an automatic transmission car. We simply put that engine into a manual transmission with no probs again. But here comes the problems. As some of you know, the AT car dashboard has 3 socket holder.

So, what I am having right now is;

1 - My rpm gauge is not working at all.
2 - Engine heat gauge doesn't show the right temp as it is supposed to be.
3 - Fuel gauge might not be showing me the right level (still testing.)
4 - Most of the warning / instrument lights are showing up. I haven't seen 4wd light to come on when I'm in 4wd (I'm not even sure if I am in 4wd or not when I want to go). I have only seen battery and oil light on at very first start. Not even the hand brake light comes on.

What should I do to get these things working back?

For the drive train, we got the power steering (regular hydraulic steering box of the donor car's) but when I turn the steering wheel, I hear some creaking sounds coming from the left wheel mostly. I have the normal tires of 205/75r15 with no wheel spacers. I'm having an intention of replacing them with 215/75r15. Would I need some wheel spacers for better grip?

There's actually no way any of us can tell you what needs to be done, and that is because there is no way for us to tell what has been done.

I have to assume that you've swapped the EFI harness and ECU in to the Samurai to get the EFI engine running - so what you are probably trying to do now is get the original dash to work with the new engine.

Get the diagrams for both vehicles and see where the differences are - you may be able to sort some things out by "re-pinning" the connectors, but, be aware that gauges are not "standardized", so just as an example, there is no guarantee that your old temp gauge will work in place of the new one, especially if the new one was driven by the ECU (the old one was driven directly by a sender in the intake manifold).

Thanks for the reply fordem, I never expected such an answer but you have a fair point cause I never thought of that. How about installing some after market gauges to the car then? Is it possible to get the rpm / temp gauge working again with the after market parts? Could use some brand and model advises again if possible.

I have added a tach to my Zuk. Not a big deal. When adding ANY gauges to your vehicle, they require a battery (+) wire, a ground (-) wire and a signal wire. The signal wire is connected to the sender unit (oil pressure, water temp, etc. sender). Same is true of a tach. although you can get the tach signal wire from the distributor wiring. (See a wiring diagram for location of tach hookup wire).
BE SURE to install fuse(s) at the closet point near the battery (+) connection to the (+) wires of your new gauges.
Most auto parts places have gauges with senders for sale. Tough part is getting gauges with the proper thread pattern for your vehicle.
