My throtle is still sticking!! I have battled this ever since I put it on about 3 yrs ago!! It will not go back to idle it sticks and races even after installing a return spring???I am so fed up with this thing! Plus its killing my drive train because my engine is racing and when I let out on the clutch it snatching my shafts! Any ideas?? Are the harley carbs better as far as the throtle issues??I dont have the $$ for that set up right now but this weber must go!!:mad:

My weber never had this problem. Things that will make a weber stick open are the same things that will make any other carb to stick.

make sure the return springs (on the carb and on the pedal in the cab) are in the right place. Make sure the throttle cable is not binding up and properly adjusted. you can try spraying some lub on the linkages and see if that helps.

Weber has been making high performance carbs for years and is still seen as one of the best carbs you can get for many foreign vehicles. Keep the carb you have and work out the kinks and it will do just fine

Ive done all of that...New cable,lubed it,adjusted everything many many times,and put my own return spring on and all of that still hasnt worked?I can raise the hood with the engine racing and push the throtle over to where its suppose to rest and it goes back to idle but it just wont go back to idle by itself?Its not the cable because its loose when its racing and I have to push the linkage over with my finger on the carb to get it back to idle?? Am I missing something????I have been fighting this for 3 yrs and Im just fed up!!! Plus it embarrassing to pull up to a red light and when i push in the clutch it sounds like im about to take flight.....

One thing that might have happened is that the nut holding on the throttle linkage to the shaft has been over tightened. Making it bind against the carb body. Back it off a little and use very little pressure to retighten this nut. The shaft might also be bent causing it to hang in a spot.

Well,I kinda feel like an idiot....I ask one of the machanics at work and he asked If I had tried cleaning it with carb cleaner.I told him yes but its been a while and it did nothing at that time to fix it.He said since it had been on for 3 yrs...to remove the carb and clean the floats and everything else I could get to on the bottom...I did and as of now its running like a top....crazy its always the simpliest things that get ya....Thanks for the help and i will report if the problem returns..

Ok,spoke too soon! I worked great for 1/2 a day then right back to the way it was?So why when I clean it it worked then back to the way it was????Im missing something?Nothing looks bent but maybe I cant tell??

i had the same sort of problem when i put empi carb on and it was that the return spring needed to be adjusted to the right tension

well,just an update...Still have the same problem?The only thing I havent done is just take the dang thing off and clean it underneath as well and maybe with it off I can see if something is binding.Its driving me nuts!! Ive go to figure this out....Thanks all of you guys for your imput! You never know what you may be missing unless you ask...

Ok,I think I have the issue narrowed down...I took my carb off and found the linkage on the back of the water choke is the problem.Its sticking and I can make it do this by hand with the carb off.I have cleaned it(the linkage) and it still sticks so knowing this can anyone help me on how to free this linkage up?:confused:

Is it your throttle or your choke that is sticking? take off the air filter when it is running and see if your choke is all the way open it might get suck half way open not allowing the high speed idle to disengage.

Take just the top off the carb body and you should be able to get to the choke linkages and clean them good look to see if any thing is bent. Try using some silicon spray on all your linkages to help free them up. You might have to work things back and forth by hand. Make sure you can move the choke easily by hand there should be almost no resistance

I checked everything and all looked ok.After my last post all has been good.Its not been sticking anymore plus i ran a can of sea foam in my tank and now I only run premium gas in it and I can sure tell a difference and It only cost me another couple bucks more to fill up.I had a really bad valve chatter on a load and now all of thats gone too!!!Only the good stuff for now on!!!
