Hi Everybody,
Does anyone know what a clunking/grinding noise can be on my XL-7 just as you come to a halt after braking. It only happens now and again but it is worrying. The dealer have had the car back but cant find anything wrong. They road tested it and put it on the rolling road but found nothing. On the way back home the noise sounded again. Any ideas?

Ok this is my first post here ever and it may seem a little dumb, but here it goes anyways.

When u get your car back from the dealer, do they shine the tyres for you? I found that when I got my XL-7 the brakes grinded a little because the tyre shine stuff was on the brake rotars?

Possibility?

Other than that I am stuffed. Can you take it to a brake specialist and have them inspect it. If they find anything, take the results to your dealer and have them fix it properly?

My GV makes a grinding noise just as it comes to a stop it only happens aoccasionally it sounds like the disc pads have worn away but there is nothing wrong with any of the brake components.I drive a new transit van at work and that makes the same noise all the time the dealer says it is caused by the ABS system,so as I can't find anything wrong with the brakes on my car I'm going to carry on and worry if it gets any worse.

grinding would suggest metal to metal contact which if this was the case there would be some form of evidence, and i am sure the dealer would have detected this.
the disc pad compound has on other manufacturers contributed to a grinding noise heard at low \ speed moderate braking. often this would be identified with a manufacturers t.s.b (technical service bulletin) with the recommendation of revised pads.
the clonking however is generally not associated with this concern
