I have an '05 Reno, bought it new, never been in any accidents or anything.
I was driving home from the family dinner tonight and my check engine light came on. I was slowing down for a red light when it happened. I came to a complete stop and when I tried to go again my car didn't want to move. I put my four ways on and gave it some more gas and it slowly moved, enough to get it into a gas station parking lot. I turned off the car, checked the gas cap, re-tightened it and started the car again and the light was still on. I tried to move it a little bit and it did the same thing, no acceleration.
My brother came to look at it and didn't see any belts off or anything and he couldn't figure out what was wrong with it just looking at it. So we drove around the block and it didn't act weird or anything, but the light is still on.
I'm calling the dealership tomorrow, but I was wondering if anyone had any ideas as to what might be wrong. The dealership is over 30 miles away, but I know they won't tow it.

Thanks in advance.

It could be any number on things. Assuming that you are under the factory warrantee, you should be home free with regards to problem ID and repair. You COULD drive to any major chain Auto Parts place and get a free "scan" that will pull up the code showing what is causing the fault as well.

i had a similar prob with my o5 reno it turned out to be a problem with the original transmition programing and was a simple download to the ecm that fixed it. mine is an automatic if its a manual ofcourse it wont be the same prob.

The shop said they had to reprogram something, didn't say what, but they said it was fixed.
I am still waiting for the parts from the recall to come in, which are still backed up if anyone was wondering. I think it was something for a timing belt but I could be wrong.
Anyways, thanks for your answers.
