Argghhhh.... oil came out real runny and I thought "that ain't good". Smelt like gas.

Am hitting the search engine now, but if anyone has any specifics, let me hear them. Looks like the fuel pump is the usual culprit?

Where's that thread that says "Do NOT drive another foot" when someone else discovered gas in the oil??? EDIT: Ahhh... found it! "Need Advice on Servicing" just below this one!

Gas can only enter your engine 2 ways. The bad fuel pump or from flooding through the carb. Fix the problem then change oil and filter. Do not run it till fixed either way.

The previous owners were not as mechanically inclined as is necessary to be A Samurai Owner and DID flood it quite often.

How would I identify the problem for sure? Look for flooding of the vent tube?

It probably wouldn't hurt to toss a new pump on there anyway.

If it's flooding bad you could tell by how bad the idle and running was. It will have took a lotta air going in to have kept it running at any speed.

I've only had the thing for 3 weeks, less than 1 tank of gas, so it's pretty new to me. THEY flooded it and yeah, could barely keep it running. I figured out the procedure and now I pump the throttle 3x, take my foot off the pedal, hit the start button, and repeat until it stays running (about 3-4 times). Once it idles for more than 15 seconds, it'll idle perfectly. I don't smell gas, but I sure did when the previous owners were showing off to me! Again, this is MY first oil change on it, so if they routinely flooded it, I guess it could cause problems. FWIW, I did NOT notice any increase in the "oil" level on the dipstick prior to my change.

Worth noting that the automatic choke shut-off is broken and the choke is now wired open. Another thing I might fix if I can find the part!
