I decided to post something here rather than starting an account on another forum. Figured you folks may have an answer for me.

2003 cavalier 2.2 ecotec auto trans (obviously)

My torque converter seems to want to lock up hard when beginning to accelerate up a hill. Or sometimes even around a curve. It seems to unlock slightly and then relock hard causing you to feel a lurch, throwing you back in the seat. If it has downshifted at interstate speed, when it shifts back up it is a very hard shift. And I also notice my lights dimming as I come to a stop. It never stalls or fails to take off but when you reach road speed and start up a hill it will either seem to loose power or I will get this lurch described above.

I am wondering if this is an electrical or physical problem. Perhaps a TCC solenoid? I have heard Chevys are bad about those.

That's a Chevy world question. You'd better stick w/them.

Sorry.

I'd try, but auto trannies are just so specialized a talent to have knowledge in.
