I have a query about the cam sprocket timing marks for a Sierra 1.0 litre (the F10a engine). The sprocket has two sets of marks.

The first set has a timing indent on the rim and another indent on the inner edge, just above the key way.

If the first set is at twelve o'clock, the second set is at ten o'clock and has a timing indent on the rim and two indents side by side on the inner edge, just above the second key way.

Timing off the first set (no. 4 piston at TDC) No. 4 valves are fully closed and rotating the crank suggests that everything is as it should be - distributor progresses as it should, spark is 10 degrees BTDC, valves open and close in correct order. But the engine is running very rough. Any ideas? is the second set of marks the right ones to use?

Thanks for that. That explains it perfectly. I have a Haynes manual which is very vague on this topic.
