The OEM pads cost US$120 plus shipping ( even more locally) and there are many compatible ones
online costing $25 and up. I want organic as my model does not have ABS
and organic has the reputation of having the best bite for the buck. Most dust too but
I can live with that. I put on a set of semi metallics and they held so bad I put the old OEM pads
back on. Ceramic I think is even more expensive. Why such a range of prices ?
Question is : How can I find out if the USA model pads which seem to be for V6 models with ABS
will fit my SQ420W-2, 5 door, 4 speed automatic transmission, E11 (general export) 2001 ?
OEM part # for my cars pads is 55200-65D32-000

Thanks lots !

I like the wagner thermoquiet semi metallic pads. Good value and better than organic IMO. Can't tell you what fits your exact vehicle tho, sorry.

Where did you find the 55200-65D32-000 number? My copy of the Suzuki WWEPC shows 55200-65D11 as the front brake pads for an E11, SQ420W-2, and that number (65D11) is also used on the US market 99~03 SQ625 Grand Vitaras.

The part # for the pads came off a site recommended here in a search for
SQ420W-2.
My post was overly detailed - I really just want someone to tell me that all
the 2nd Gens, all trims, all countries, all badges, used the same front brakes
ie calipers and pads, or not. Will investigate Wagners when I know the size/style/fit.
Thanks !

Well I know that many 'extras' like ABS and airbags are missing in mine,
so they removed stuff to meet some competitors price in a given market
but I cant see them changing the brake pad metal backing size (the lining
quality/type, yes).

ps. Happy New Year to all - it cant get much worse

yes, the brake pad backing plate size and caliper size was certainly different depending on ABS, non-ABS and market it was originally destined for.

2030GV we posted at same time- there seem to be 2 of one style/like mine and 1 of another quite thats
quite different. I'm going to take a chance on the $25 NOS ones from Canada, I saw on Ebay.

Why not simply remove and then take your existing pads to the local Auto Parts establishment and match them to inventory stocked? ;)

Bottom line...I think that you may be making this too hard on yourself. The vehicle is not some odd or exotic ride with routine maintenance item needs too difficult to source.

Because thats too simple? I routinely ask myself this same question when I see people ordering stuff online from dubious overseas suppliers where all they seem to want to do is buy cheap.
I'm not sure what its like in other parts of the world but here the parts shops have a wide array of brake pad manuals with full size pics and can easily cross match pads by placing the backing plate on the picture and can provide several material alternatives. Plain Organic in my opinion aren't worth it, semi metallic are way better and will fade less than a full organic pad.

Well, Why ? The local Suzuki dealer sells a set for over $200 and they
have an excellent reputation with 2 mechanics I spoke to. " buy them if you
have the money " I dont want to pay that hence online.
A auto parts dealer friend gave me a pair of Chinese semi metallics but no grip.
Long life I'm sure :))
I will do some research over the w/end with those parts #'s Max.
Thanks again

If you've determined that they fit, buy the ones you want.

How far wrong can you go for $25?

Well I bought some ADVICS ceramics for $51 the set.
I'll report back after I have tried them.
Max- the myparts.com $7 ea ones unfortunately had a minimum
order requirement of 10 pads.
Thanks to all.

They have their uses if you are talking full ceramics, but man, they need heating up first, you can't just stab the pedal and expect them to work, you have to press the pedal, release then push, then they work.....Apply and hold brakes on from cold, good luck slowing up.

That's why I said it. Good for race cars, not for 4x4's.

yep, wait for the first emergency stop and they don't appear to work, so you have a second stab at the pedal and end up with blood on the inside of the window from your nose hehe
