Does anyone know if the backup switch and the 5th gear switch are the same switch? i.e. can I use the same switch in both locations.

Both of the switches have the wires missing and I wanted to replace the switches. I can find places on the internet to buy the backup switch but can't seem to find information on the 5th gear switch. Do you think the 5th gear switch is even necessary? I believe it links to the carb to improve full consumption.

Thank you for your help.

Ya it sits behind the backup sensor. I read that it "tells" the carburetor that you are in 5th gear and it helps to improve fuel consumption!! Not sure about this though!!

transmission switches

Note that the plugs are different on those two switches. One is male and the other is female.

but if the wiring is all messed up the connecters dont matter...the switch itself is the same with a different connecter on the end... you can put whatever kind of connecter you want on them or just wire them strait
