Alternator

Just bought a 2004 Forenza, and the alternator isn't charging the battery, but it looks brand new. I noticed a 100 amp cube fuse on the positive battery terminal that looks to be blown. Two questions, would that affect the alternator from charging and Two how do you take it out

What is the mess of wire beside it? Fix that fast before that shorts on something, or cooks up and you lose everything.

That fuse should have 2 bolts underneath the bracket holding the fuse in, one being the cable to the alternator the other one holding it to the bracket.
