Some of you may have seen my older thread about a week ago regarding this issue but i still can't figure out what the problem is, truck has 60 000km on it and i took the starter out and it looked fine to me and starts the car everytime but when i cold start it it makes this weird noise, so i am wondering if it might be the exhaust? here are 2 more video's i made.

Sound like the bendix is sticking, do you see any scuff marks on the teeth or flywheel?

May need a shim!!

Normally remanufactured starters will often have replaced bendix gears, solenoids, etc. If you search the internet, you will find information on how to lube this, but frankly, if it was me, I would just replace the starter.....

Its possible that the grease that's been used on it is too thick and is causing drag/sticking when its cold.

Yeah that would make sense, or maybe the grease is just really dried up since this thing has been siting for so long.

Glad it's sorted. An easy 'repair' just to replace it....;)
