I purchased an 87 Samurai that someone installed an electric fuel pump on. I want to to change it back to an original mechanical fuel pump. What correct hose routing? It does have a Weber Carb and no emission junk on it.
I'm just curious, why go back to the old mechanical pump?
Webers can be touchy with fuel pressures and some mechanical pumps are known to have issues with fuel pressure that the Weber carbs don't like making them flood.
interesting, I have plenty of electric fuel pumps that have lasted well over 50 years. what style are you using? most carb designed ones won't need a pressure regulator as they are self limiting at about 4 psi. If you are using a high flow type then I can understand the failures.
Holley Mighty Mite 1.5-4psi & I can't remember the brand of the other but same psi range but a blocky square style. They both lasted about 1000 miles started clicking louder and then died.
I bought a carter mechanical pump and installed it...figured out the hose routing. Set the PSI regulator to 3 PSI and it runs like a champ now!
