I am going to look at a 94 two door tracker with auto. very clean with 80k miles but the 4wd doesn't work. Worst case what am I looking at 4 repair? Are trackers any more complicated than than a normal full sized truck when it comes to transfer case, hubs, etc? anything I could check easily on the lot to give a hint to problems causing no 4wd? Thanks for any insight!

It depends on why the 4wd 'doesn't work'. If it's the transfer case, it's easy enough to get a replacement in a junkyard - these are part time 4wd, so the transfer case isn't used daily. Or perhaps the hubs aren't locking? They can be serviced (if Aisin originals) or replaced as well. I think you need to be more specific about why the 4wd doesn't work.....

Not sure why the 4 wd doesn't work. That's all it says in the add. Haven't talked to the dealer yet. It's possible being a cheap vehicle that they didn't investigate much.

Only way to find out, put the vehicle up on a lift, activate 4x4,
if shafts rotate, T/C OK,
if wheels do not, either hubs N/S or not locked..
