Hi,

I am new to the Samurai world, just bought an 87. It runs great, started messin with the 4WD and it froze in place, now when I put the truck in 1st it won't go, it is like it is stuck in Nuetral. I can't get the 4WD to go into 2H or 4H or N...nothing. Any ideas?

Thanks!

easy fix, take out the transfer case shifter, and replace the bushing on the end of the shifter, yours is worn out thats why its getting stuck in N, this is a common fix for samurai's.

When that happened to me, I was heart broken, thought something had gone wrong with my T/C. I took it to a mechanic and wasted a lot of money, and then it turned out tobe just the bushing :(

Happened again later, but I had learnt a lesson this time and replaced the bushing myself. But I had to fix the position of the shifter using a large flat screw driver.

Also can't shift

This is a good forum for me. Yesterday I traded my kawaski mule for Samauri....best decision I made. My son and I drove off and on and decided to check out the 4WD. Drove on lake dam 4 times then I could not get into any 4WD gear. Stuck in netural. Afer reading this forum...I went out and took the stick out and sure enough the bushing is gone!!! Those dang plastic are worthless. I am going to get a brass ones. Yes I agreed with all user above...it is easy. I hope a auto part store carry these.

Get the set of Poly from petroworks. On the tranny you have to deform the bushing to get by a pair of pins. They will outlast the OEM's

Prost!
