Help !! Hopefully someone can help,my 2009 Equator will not start in cold weather(below freezing). The engine just turns over but will not start, battery is strong, but if you jump battery it starts.Truck has only 3,000 miles. Its been in dealers service for a week and prior time for three days . They changed crank sensor but that didn't do anything. Looks like they have no idea whats causing this to happen. If anyone has had this problem please let me know what the fix is so I can get my truck back in working order.

Did the dealer test the battery with their new Midtronics battery tester? Ask them to perform a diagnostic charge with the machine (All US dealers were issued this piece of equipment in early December 2009 as an essential tool). If the tester indicates the battery is "good-needs recharged" they need to replace the battery. Also, did they set up a Technical assistance case? This would be indicated on your invoice with a 10 digit number. I know you say the battery is strong, however, that it starts with a jump start tells me the battery is not quite up to snuff.

The dealer told me they tested battery, unknown what type of tester they used and said nothing is wrong with battery. They have been in contact with a service rep from Suzuki and they advised them to change the crank sensor which did not correct problem. As far as a case number I got one myself from customer service when I called Suzuki Corp.My truck is still in dealers service dept so I don't know if that number is on any invoice. They have no idea what is wrong so its back to square one !!!

i came across a similar problem, turned out to be loose ground wires. this is a well known problem with nissan. the ones i found loose were at the top of the engine near the throttle body..

Sorry about the situation that you are in, but this problem that you are having is quite in the status of the lemon law. To qualify, there has to be three attempted repairs, each one of them being that same exact part having to fail. I'm more towards northeastXL7 in the battery, if there is a bad cell in the battery. It may appear that it shows the proper voltage on a meter, but it may be unsufficient when put under a load test from a load tester or its starter when measuring amperage draw. And also I would ask if there is any parasitic draw, just to be safe.

Suzuki reps have been hard at work trying to fix my truck.I was told by dealer and a field rep that they think it my be the engines computer, not sure what the part is called. They are hopefull to have the part in next week and that fixes the no start in cold weather problem. If that doesn't work I have no idea what they will try next.

Just wanted to post that I finally got my truck back yesterday. They had it at dealer for 24 days. They said it was the ECM (computer) had a short, and they changed it along with new battery and a couple of sensors. Well hope that this fixed all the problems.I'll see if truck starts over the next week because weather is getting colder (below freezing).

I know it has been a long time since you posted this, but I has the same problem with my 2009. any time the temp was below 40 degrees it would not start. The Nissan Dealer told me what the problem was. It was a crack in the ECM board. he told me to use a hair dryer to warm it up before starting. I did this for the first winter and it worked. then I found a place in Florida that fixed the problem for less than $200
