Mechanic replaced upper pulley and serpentine belt. Sound started a few days after. Sound is on passenger side of engine near the belt and pulleys. Any ideas at all would be helpful. 2008 Suzuki sx4

At first sight....sound....it seems one of the components ball bearings (tensioner?) is shot.
At least we hear what you hear....better than words. Several cases of seized alternator have been reported on this and other SX4 forums....what is your mileage? WHere are you? What is your "upper" pulley? (probably the idler between P/S pump and water pump) DId you keep the worn out component ?

The first thing I would do is remove the accessory drive belt and see if the noise stops. Hopefully a rogue bolt fell in somewhere and is clattering against one of the pulleys.

But if that is it, it sounds like a classic timing chain noise. No, it won't be cheap to fix.
