I have been dealing with a weird hard starting issue for a while and finally nailed it. Just passing on what I found to help anyone else. It seems only to happen after stop and go driving. The variable intake flapper is sticking a bit open at shut down. Before shutting off the engine, give a throttle blip to over 3,000 rpm and then let off the throttle. After it returns to idle then shut off. This seems to get the flapper to close properly. It will start later normally.
Not sure if the servo motor needs to be replaced or the whole intake manifold. Ill probably try and pick up an entire low mileage assembly off ebay sooner or later.
