I'm between the rock and the hard place on this. Daughter called and said "Power Steering "turns OFF"! Can anyone help on this please? Is it as easy by "just" replacing the sensor? What else can i do to troubleshoot and get to a more definitive root cause?

there is a little black box about the size of a pack of cigs. on the right side of the radio.
Unpluging this disables the "speed controlled power steering" and should solve the problem.

hi. welcome to the forum!! the reno/forenza has whats called speed sensitive power steering(ssp). at low or parking speed you have full power steering. the faster you go the less power steering is applied to give the driver more of the road feel. the power steering never "turns off" what happens is the ssp turns off leaving you with full time power steering. sometimes the cold weather has been known to cause the ssp light to come on or it might be a bad unit. the problem can probably be fixed by replacing the control box. if the car is still under warranty take it too a dealer. or a trusted mechanic can probably fix the problem. let us know what you find out
