2004 door lock remotes

recently moved; and lost the remotes to one of our 2004 GVs. Hmmph. Looked through the FAQs, et al, garnered the below information. the car in question does not appear to have a separate door lock security module like our old MY2000 did, so no separate button on a controller to press. That said, neither the first or second set of steps seems to work. Looked through the service manual to no avail. Hoping someone here smarter than me can enlighten me on how to program my "new" remotes. TIA !!

2004 Grand Vitara
1. Remove key from ignition switch.
2. Close all doors.
3. Open drivers door
4. Insert key and turn to ON position and within 10 seconds turn
key off and remove key.
5. Within 20 seconds Close and open drivers door 3 times.
6. Insert key and turn to ON position and within 10 seconds turn
key off and remove key.
7. Locks should now lock and unlock automatically to confirm you
have entered programming mode.
8. Press the UNLOCK button on remote and locks should cycle to
confirm programming.
9. Repeat step 8 on each additional remote.
10. Exit vehicle with keys and remote, close door test remote(s).

  • Confirm that all the doors are closed and the ignition key is out of the ignition cylinder.
    2. Open the driver’s door.
    3. Perform these steps within 10 seconds: Insert the key into ignition and turn the ignition switch to the ON position, then back to the OFF position and remove key.
    4. Within 20 seconds, close and open the driver’s door three times.
    5. Within 10 seconds, insert the key into the ignition and turn the ignition switch to the ON position, then back to the OFF position and remove key.
    6. Press and hold both the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons together on the remote for at least 5 seconds. Release both buttons.
    7. Within 5 seconds, press the LOCK button on the remote and release. All doors will automatically lock and unlock to confirm that remote has been properly programmed.
STEPS:
1- Perform "key in&out / door open&close" procedure as mentioned before in this thread.
2- Locate and press the programming button next to the red LED on the keyless entry control module. (Behind/under the dash on the driver side)
3- If the LED flashes, press lock, then unlock until the LED becomes solid.

Hi. I had to activate keyless entry on another Suzuki model. Process is almost the same. My first try failed because at end of step #5, the door must be opened when you achieve step #6.
In case of failure, close the door and remove the key before step #1.
