I am a owner of a 2002 Suzuki Grand Vitara it is releasing thick white smoke from the tail pipe but only on start up I checked my oil and its normal color, the car doesn't overheat, the car doesn't use much anti freeze, and there no lights on the dash please help I have little to no idea to what I'm doing and I'm trying to decide if I can keep the car or if it rode its final day feel free to ask any questions about the car and its current issue please and thank you

Ok, that helps. What does the smoke smell like? Sweet?
If its only at starting and disappears within a few seconds and its not doing anything silly, do a combustion gas test on the coolant to check theres nothing getting into the coolant.

The H25a v6 engine has a known issue with clogged baffle drains in the valve covers. If I had bluish oil smoke on startup only, that's where I'd start.

However. I agree, white smoke normally means coolant.

I'm leaning towards pcv condensate burning off at start as thats pretty heavy in moisture content hence my question re coolant. If its not using coolant and no combustion gas in coolant then I'd start with baffles and pcv system cleaning.

I think that's pretty solid advice and I'd go with that.

weidly smells like gasoline straight from a gas station and the only werid thing its doing is ticking while starting the theroy is the hydrolic lifter is failing and the smokeing part but like when I mean thick I mean you can't even see through it

I'm only spitballing injector leaks would show up as bad running....usually

Can we back up a second?

Is your "check engine" light on? If so, your car's computer will display diagnostic trouble codes. Those codes could be instructive to resolving your problem. I'd start there.

If no codes, you'll have to go with your senses. Describe the exhaust odor and color further. Is it white, or is it blue/gray? Does it smell like coolant? Like oil? Like gas?

Where is the gas smell coming from? Gas smell under the hood is very bad. Fire hazard. A gas leak under the hood can be easy to fix, but don't drive it until you do.

However I suspect you're describing a gas smell in the exhaust. When I think of exhaust that smells like gas, I think of the vapor canister, the purge valve and purge valve solenoid.

Identifying the odors and exhaust colors will point you in the right direction. Until you can start narrowing down your symptoms, your responses here will be all over the board.
