I am trying to replace a cvj on a 2002 Alto 1.0. Unfortunately Suzuki only supply the complete drive arm at a high price - which seems pretty ridiculous as the cvj is designed to be removed form the shaft. I have tried a couple of aftermarket sources here in Portugal one of which uses GKN but have had no luck. I have found a GKN item for €50 which is identical except that the retaining clip is set near the end of the cvj spline and so will not lock on to the shaft spine. I think my only recourse is to get the shaft spline or the cvj spline machined to allow the clip to mate with the shaft groove.

Has anyone found an aftermarket source of CVJs for the Alto in the UK? It would be worth my while paying for shipping to Portugal if I could find something which was guaranteed to fit.

Having looked into this more it seems that there are 2 types of cvj fitting. The cvj I have removed from the car incorporates a circlip which locks into a groove in the shaft spline and the other type has a spring clip which sits in a groove on the shaft and locks into a groove in the spline of the cvj. The circlip sits at the entrance of the cvj spline and the spring clip locks into a groove at the far end of the cvj spline. The circlip is visible when the cvj is on the shaft and has to be held open with circlip pliers to remove the cvj. The spring clip is not visible and the cvj has b to be knocked off the shaft.
