My 2001 Suzuki Grand Vitara died on me on a trip and would not turn over the car was smoking white smoke from the engine and would not turn over. All the fluids were full. I had the car towed and the next day I could get it turn over but the engine ran rough and there was a slight smell of rotten eggs like a bad catalytic converter, however there was no codes and the check engine light did not come on. I checked the spark plugs which were also good and so were the wires. I found the smoke coming from the right side of the engine behind the heat shield under the spark plugs. There is a slight engine oil leak problem that it has had so I think it might be one of the gaskets for the oil. Any ideas?
Sorry, its U.S. V6 2.5L
No it doesn't run properly it struggles to stay on not really any sounds just the sound of the engine wanting to cut off. It did linger and the coolant level hasn't changed at all. There's no cloudyness or anything in the oil that would show signs of water. The temp did remain the same, so the engine never overheated.
Remove one of the upstream O2 sensors, them start the engine, if it runs well (will be noisy) the CAT has collapsed....Causing too much back pressure... Philip
