Max, I had quizzed you once before about putting the 2.3 liter aerio engine in my vitara. I've finally convinced a family member that it might be a good idea if it will improve power without a serious loss in mpg. I just read that some of the aerio engines are 2 liter with 145 hp. Do you know what the difference is between these engines and the 127hp vitara 2.0? Any help will be greatly appreciated!!

Could be as simple as a bump in compression or better cam's.

Aerio 9.3:1
145hp @ 5700 RPM
136 ftlbs @ 3000RPM

sx4 10.5:1

Tracker/Vitara: 9.3:1
127 @ 6000
134 ftlbs @ 3000

I'm thinking they are using better cam's or better cam timing in the aerio to raise the HP and torque.

An increase in compression ratio would increase both hp and torque. But more duration or lift on the cam's can have the same effect.
In the aerio the j20 gains 18 hp and 2 ftlbs over the vitara.

I wonder if maybe its computer tuning related as well ?
