1999 esteem is stalling in reverse

I have a 99 Suzuki esteem sedan 1.8L and recently it has started stalling when it's in reverse and only reverse. Every other gear works fine. I'm not sure what it could be, I checked spark plugs and the idle air control valve and that didn't seem to be closing completely. Just kind of looking for suggestions and/or advice. Thanks!!
