Hey all, I have a project currently being carried out, and I was wondering if I could get some help. I'm planning, well already started installing a J18A engine from a suzuki baleno into the ride_1998 Suzuki Samurai/Sierra SJ80. I am looking at installing a garrett Gt35R turbo to that engine, but I am a lil skeptical because the turbo is rated for 2.0-3.0l engines. So, I was wondering if I can't just swap the internals from the J20A engine into the J18A to increase its displacement and aid in spooling the turbo. Tried reading a thread that had some info on that same J18A/J20A topic, but I didn't get a specific answer. Is the J20A block taller? Or am I wasting my time, and should just turbo the J18A. Someone advised that the J18A might even spool the Gt35R quicker than the J20A because of its faster acceleration. What do you guys think? Much appreciate it.

Here's the project:

Hey i thought that you should know but if you plan on using that 35r you wont see full boost till 5,000 rpm and you will blow the motor on stock internals, only on about 8psi. use a 50trim ,t-25,14b.And your motor may handle them and it would spool much faster. The 35r is way overkill.

Hey thanks for the advice. I am planning using forged ross pistons, pauter rods, a cryo crank from a J20A, and cryo the block and head. Plus I will be doing a twin charge, using a supercharger for low end power and also help spool the 35R.

What does everyone think of the electric super charger?? Do you believe it? I'm a bit skeptical, but it is such a good deal and says it will be good on gas! I am slowly modding and upgrading my car, the next project is to get an autopage car alarm.

So do you think the e charger is a crock or a legit tool??
