I have a 1996 1.6 16 valve petrol Vitara (right hand drive) and the "check engine" light came on after jumping the connector I have managed to find out it is code 34 "MAF low"

I replaced the MAF sensor with the one off my other Vitara but the light won't go off it still reads code "34"

The voltage in the wires are as follow

Left 12-14 volt depending on engine running or not
Middle 3-4 volt
Right 0 volt due to being earth

I connected left and right and the voltage read between 12-14 volt showing earth is working

What could be causing the check engine light to come back on and continue to read code "34"?
As when I disconnect battery to reset the codes the "check engine light" remains off for about 3 seconds

Try checking the voltages at the ECU, you may have a wiring issue. Also check that the 0V wire has continuity.
