Default 2005 Verona Steering wheel lock and Keyless operation OFF

I parked with the steering wheel turned too far and had trouble getting the key out. My passenger "helped" without my asking by jerking the steering wheel toward him. I got the key out but now the wheel does not lock, the cherp/alarm/lock does not work and I get strange indicators on the display - flashing tire pressure sensor; airbag; seatbelt...NOT all at once but maybe 1 every other day or so for a while and then its clear again.

What concerns me is I took it to the dealer and they told me it was "working as designed"! I tried and tried to explaine what SHOULD be happening but they didnt seem to know there should be a CLICK when the key is removed locking the steering wheel into postition.

Is this something any mechanic can do? Am I going to have to replace the steering lock or ignition? Is my assumption that the locks will work once this is fixed valid?
