Question How to tell if ABS is installed?

Hi guys,
I just bought a used 2004 Verona this weekend. It seems that if my car is equipped with ABS then my insurance will be cheaper. I can't tell by looking under the hood if it's installed or not and running my VIN # gives mixed results. The dealer says my VIN says my car is either an "S" or an "LX", and I know the LX has ABS standard but it's an option on the "S" model. Carfax says my VIN comes back as an LX model, so if it is, then I've got ABS. I'm just not 100% sure if my car is an "S" or an "LX" and therefore am not 100% sure if my car has ABS or not. What are some ways to tell for sure? I looked under the hood and see what looks like a standard brake assembly just forward of the steering wheel, but nothing that says ABS on it or anything. Any ideas? Thanks!

when you turn the key on, before starting the engine, does the ABS light appear on the dash?

Talking

Hey Larry,
Yeah when I just checked it, on the tach gauge, dead center at the bottom the ABS light does come on for a few seconds when I turn the key part way. Is that all there is to it? I've got ABS then, eh? If so then yeah, I feel pretty stupid, but that's good news! Thanks for the help!

OK so I have one more dumb question. Is there any way to tell for sure if my car is a "S" or an LX? I'm thinking it's most likely an LX because that's what Carfax and AutoReport both say comes back for my VIN #. But I might also have an "S" with the ABS option added. Any ideas?
Thanks again!

oops.. i firgot i dont have access to the US database, if you call a local dealer with the vin and ask them to give you the model code, its 6 or 7 digit code.
then i can reference that..

Hey Larry,
I've decided it's not really important for me to know if my car is an "S" or an "LX" but I've got another question for you. Half of the time my ABS light stays on after starting the car. Sometimes it goes out then comes on again after driving a little ways. Is this a common thing with this car? Also, next to the ABS light is a light that says "DRL". My car didn't come with an owners manual (well it did, but it's for a 2005 Forenza) so I can't look it up, but it's on all the time so I wonder what it indicates?

I'll be installing a new car stereo this weekend so I'll be taking apart the dash and removing door panels etc. Wish me luck! )

Actually it shouldn't be much of a problem. I got everything from Crutchfield and they provide wiring harnesses, step by step instructions and even photos of the inside of my Verona showing where to pry off panels, etc. I love those guys!

Hey Larry,
Just noticed you've also got a Suzuki C50. Check out my M109R here:
