Default Instrument cluster backlight not working

All the instrument cluster gauges are working fine but the backlight never comes on at night. Same for the backlight on the dash clock and the transmission. I checked the fuses (the badly placed ones in the cabin) and they all seem fine. Anybody got any ideas? I'll try plugging in an OBD reader and seeing what it says on the weekend.

This is a 2009 Suzuki SX4 that has otherwise been stellar, reliability-wise.

It's my mom's car but it's a new condition, she says. I'll try find the intensity button tomorrow when I see the car and report back. Thanks!

not a dumb question at all. Now, go embarrass your mom for causing this issue in the first place.
