Default One brake light partially not working

I have a 2007 SX4. The driver side brake light doesn't work when braking. The light does work when the headlight are turned on. The passenger side and centre brake lights work as they are supposed to.

Anyone got any good ideas?

First....we do not know where you live. These cars have various light circuit configurations depending on location, DRL or not, some have relays, some not, and different rear light configuration .
Come back with precisions and you will get relevant replies.

Interesting. Didn't know that. Well you learn something new every day.

I'm in California. It does not have the daytime running lights.

The relevant tail light assembly has 3 individual lights
1) brakelight also functioning as a nighttime light,
2) reverse light,
3) indicator light.

The bulb used has two filaments - one for the brake light function, the other for the tail light function - one of the filaments has most likely failed - replace the bulb.

That was the problem alright. Changed the bulb and we are good to go.

Well played. Thanks.
