Hi guys, I have 2008 sx4 and just got check engine light on - P0722:eek::mellow:. Something wrong with a speed sensor. Where is the sensor located? Thanks.

Welcome to the forum. I've based my info on the 2L but depending on country you have a few engine sizes to chose from. Looking in the workshop manual this code was shown for the automatic transmission so I'd like to think this is correct.

I just got my reading on that and..You may need a new wheel bearing. The magnets in the bearing may be bad which gives you a bad reading. The magnets help read your RPM's. Your mechanic can find out which bearing is bad. Have him check out your ABS sensors as well. Picture example below:

202SS Bearing Deep Groove 202SS

This needs to be done by a professional mechanic. Then when he is done have him reset your codes to clear the engine light.

I don't remember my code but the description on his computer read "speed sensor"
and it was the bearing needed to be replaced. Check that first instead of doing an the entire overhaul on the electronic shift system.

The offending sensor is in the transmission, check for degradation of signal with a DSO (scope), the sensor some timed lifts from its seat with corrosion, try removing and cleaning the bedding surface..

A MM is not fast enough to see a proper signal..

From what I understand code P0722 is because the input speed sensor is sending a signal and the output speed sensor is not. However in this case I assume the sensor and circuit are OK, but not sending a signal as it's not turning.

Already answered in your other post. Its not usually the sensor, but more often the plug or wiring.
